The following images were taken during the winter, on my first trip to Japan in 2019, just before the pandemic, then just after when the borders reopened in 2022. The cities I passed through and the faces I met along the way are somewhere between modern and traditional, if not simultaneously. I met personalities of all ages and social situations. Sometimes sober, sometimes eccentric. All these everyday scenes take place in:
