"Toyer: To cover a tag. Action synonymous with provocation. The word "toy" is also used to describe graffiti artists who are poor or beginners. A jealous graffiti artist might toy with these graffiti, shamelessly covering up his rival's work. This is short for tag on your shit.
This series takes the tag out of its condition of trying to take it further than a pseudonym written on a wall, but more as a work of art. It strips away the tagger's sickly megalomania to bring out the beauty of the lettering as well as the violence and animal aspect of the gesture. People have always been obsessed with leaving a trace, a name or a drawing on the walls of buildings or homes. Removing the trace of someone's passing would be like trying to remove that person's memory."
