On the occasion of our exhibition on artist's books in october 2023, Le Plac'Art Photo invited Thibault Tourmente to seize a set of 9 issues of Asahi Journal magazine. The French iconographer places at the heart of his work the appropriation of images and archives in order to propose a new reading of photographs. With his appropriation of the 9 magazines, Thibault Tourmente confronts his photographic language with that of the Japanese artists of the Provoke period. He produces works that engage iconographic, graphic and plastic research. To keep track of the out-of-print issues and of this photographic dialogue, Thibault Tourmente is publishing a compendium of his work Asahi Journal and a set of 5 zines.
